My name is Luis Eduardo Jáuregui Aguirre, my alias is Almabar and I am from Peru. I was born in Lima, the capital, but currently, I live in the city of Ayacucho, a rural region still in economic growth but beautiful in landscapes and climate. Such a place is what I have been looking for for some years. It's funny, I was in this region in 2011, then I started traveling to various places in my country and I returned to Lima, there I met my current wife, she is from Ayacucho, and I left everything and moved to this region. I am very happy with the choice. This place inspires me a lot. The type of music I try to create is one that transmits peace, relaxation and calm, but at the same time, it must be stimulating, with subtle sounds designed by me. My first contact with music composition was at the age of 9, when I won a very basic Casio keyboard in a draw. Later I took a three-month course, but my financial condition was very limiting and I couldn't pay for more courses. I decided to follow the path of musical self-instruction. Later I got to know the composition through MIDI programs and, through the influence of genres such as Eurodance and House, I got to know the Tracker world. However, I decided to study Psychology at a state university, but I never gave up my passion for music, especially electronic music. I started traveling due to my career, I started to delve into the Chillout genre, through the compilations of Cafe del Mar, Buddha Bar and Erotic Lounge I got to know the work of Steve Miller (Afterlife) and George Evelyn (Nightmare on Wax), decided to take composition seriously and I started to create some tracks with more dedication and that led me, I think, to grow more musically. In the small town Farnham vocalist/lyricist Jasmine Reed and producer Benji O’Dell came together to form Dream-Pop duo Deja Blu. Both having a love for etherial and angelic sounds with inspiration being taken from such as Slowdive, Beach House and Clams Casino. Bringing together their influences and style to define their own sound, Deja Blu’s music is a textural and beautiful escape allowing you to ‘push aside the worlds problems and disappear into your own mind.’ - Jordan Parkin H Jasmine and Benji met at Farnham College in 2016 where they first started making music. A little studio tucked away at the back of the building often provided a creative nest for them to experiment with covers and gradually their own originals. During a trip to the ‘Lake District’ their first single ‘Lake Song’ was written. Jasmines lyrics, full of natural imagery reflects the environment around them and conjures up nostalgic feelings, an element that would be prominent in many future projects. Returning home the track was produced in Benji’s bedroom adding a lo-fi and DIY personality. Lake Song was played on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ soon after the release and described as ‘A truly mesmerising song’ by Maria Fish from the ‘Musicto’ blog. Building off their first release Deja Blu have since released two tracks, ‘Baby Steps’ and ‘Soil’ which continue to refine their sound. Particularly ‘soil’ which shows the first hints of darkness within their music. BBC introducing’s Melita Dennett described it as ‘a headphones moment’ eluding to the dynamic soundscapes crafted by the duo. In their first year of releasing music and whilst still studying at University Deja Blu have reached 900,000 streams across platforms, a number very unexpected to them which has pushed them to begin performing around the south east of England in Guildford, Brighton and London. Matching their live shows to their recorded music seeing Deja Blu live is not about who’s on stage, its about disconnecting with reality and submerging yourself in the songs. The dark clothes and dim lighting shift the focus from Jasmine and Benji onto the music and visuals they have created. Now in 2020 Deja Blu are continuing down their dreamy route and exploring it in more depth.
